India’s Megha Engineering & Infrastructures has secured a USD 225.5-million contract from national upstream operator KOC to develop a gas sweetening and sulphur recovery facility in Kuwait, Reuters reported on Friday.
The contract is for the construction, operation and management of the facility, which will be located in West Kuwait and treat approximately 3.4 mcm (120 mcf) per day of sour gas. The construction project has a completion timeline of 790 days and includes a five-year operations and maintenance engagement.
Associated gas produced in West Kuwait has elevated carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulphide concentrations, which the new plant will remove before the gas is transported off-site for further processing.
The sulphur recovery units will be developed under a build-own-operate model that gives KOC the option to buy back the facility.
Megha Engineering & Infrastructures is a Hyderabad-based multi-sector infrastructure firm established in 1989. Its global portfolio includes power, hydrocarbons, transport and water projects. The company is seeking to expand its presence in the Middle East and has previously bid on KOC contracts.
